Harlow Town defeated Barkingside 4-0 in the Thurlow Nunn Division One South.

It’s now 6 wins in a row for Harlow Town after they brushed aside Barkingside today, hitting them for 4 with goals from Cav Clarke, Fabion Simms and a brace from Ishaq Ameen.

The truth is, the score could’ve been much higher, as Harlow Town relentlessly came forward time and time again, creating over 25 chances in the game.

It was actually Barkingside who had the first of the 30 chances throughout the game, with Obi Okafor hitting a shot from distance, which James Pellin gobbled up easily.

Harlow were quick to hit it down the other end, and Ishaq Ameen was found over the top. On his left foot, he got a decent connection but his effort travelled just wide of the far-post.

Ruben Santos received a big chance when Dan Heald found him on the edge of the box. The midfielder took a touch and struck a powerful effort, but it was too central and Georgiev was able to make the save.

A mere 20 seconds later, Ishaq Ameen forced the first of a few great saves out of Georgiev, who saved the 20 yard-out shot down to his right.

In the ninth minute, the opening goal finally came for Harlow and it was once again Cav Clarke, who is in dazzling form of late, having scored last Saturday against Southend Manor.

Arley Barker’s shot was saved well by Georgiev but the goalkeeper’s handling was not so great; spilling it into Cav Clarke who gobbled up the chance, smashing it home.

Denzel Effah very nearly found himself one-on-one with Georgiev after being played in by Ishaq Ameen. However, Emeka Okafor was quick to react for Barkingside and made a marvellous last-ditch tackle to prevent him.

The chances continued to come for Harlow Town in the first half, as Ruben Santos whipped a free kick to the front-post, where Cav Clarke made a good connection but Georgiev was equal to it. Soon after, Clarke almost doubled his goal tally again after Ishaq Ameen played him in beautifully over the top but, on the half-volley, his effort was narrowly wide.

Effortful Harlow press led to another chance for Ruben Santos, after Ishaq won the ball back and played him in. Santos got a great shot away, but Georgiev made an impeccable save down to his right, keeping it just 1-0.

Santos had yet another chance after Denzel Effah played him the ball on the edge of the box, and taking a touch out, he struck it over the bar.

James Pellin was tested for the first time of the afternoon at the end of the first half, when Ismail Kifoun was played in and got a good shot away across goal, but a diving Pellin kept his concentration and denied him.

The final chance of the half was yet another Ruben Santos one, and he should’ve scored with ample space. Ishaq Ameen played a great 40 yard ball over the top, and Ruben touched it down excellently, but his shot was once again over the bar; the midfielder had more time than he believed. Therefore, after a strong but unclinical first half for the Hawks, they went into half-time 1-0 up.

The second half was when Harlow really kicked on, and begun to turn great chances into goals more clinically.

Harlow continued to knock on the door, with Syrus Gordon and Ruben Santos coming close with chances.

There were later calls for a Harlow penalty, after Denzel Effah looked to have been fouled in the box, however the referee did not point to the spot.

Kifoun hit the first shot on target of the half for Barkingside, hitting an effort from distance straight at James Pellin. Soon after, Barkingside almost equalised after a free kick from 25 yards narrowly missed the top-left corner.

Arley Barker almost doubled the lead for Harlow when Ruben Santos picked him out from a free kick. His header was saved well by Georgiev.

From the following corner, the wait for a second goal was over as Fabion Simms made no mistake in heading home, making it 2-0 to Harlow in the second half.

The Hawks became much more clinical from this point onwards, as Cav Clarke found the net, but was deemed offside after receiving the ball from Ishaq Ameen, who had previously skilled past numerous defenders.

The third goal of the afternoon came when substitute Jack Zielinski bounced the ball into the path of Ishaq Ameen and, in the middle of the box, there would only be one result.

A marvellous fourth goal of the game came when Denzel Effah rinsed a player on the left-hand side, before picking out Ishaq Ameen with a low cross, who finished beautifully on his left foot, wrapping up a fantastic win for Harlow Town.
