Harlow Town defeated Haverhill Borough 4-0 last Tuesday evening.

Having lifted the Thurlow Nunn League Challenge Cup back in early-May this year, Harlow Town were keen to hold on to the trophy for another season, and after receiving a bye in the first round, they took on Haverhill Borough at the Pardus Wealth Stadium.

The Hawks got off to the perfect start, with Denzel Effah finding the net after just two minutes of action.

The Hawks continued to dominate proceedings, with the away side really struggling in the opening half, and just 11 minutes later, the lead was doubled from a Cav Clarke goal.

Fabion Simms found himself on the scoreline once again for Harlow this season, after finding the net in the 18th minute, and it was beginning to look like Harlow were running away with the game, and could possibly score 10.

However, Haverhill Borough managed to hold off the Hawks until the break, and the half-time score saw Harlow leading by three goals to nil.

The second half saw Haverhill change their style of play, and with nothing to lose, they fought hard to get back into the game, almost causing trouble for the Harlow side.

Danny Chapman, the Harlow Town manager noted that it was a very good start from his side, but the second half performance left a lot to be desired.

Despite the Haverhill pressure, they were unable to score, and it was actually the home side who netted the final goal of the game, with Jordan Burnett scoring for Harlow, wrapping up the 4-0 win and progression to the third round of the League Challenge Cup.

Overall, it was a tale of two halves for Harlow, and with Teddy Jones returning to the side, it was a great defensive display that ensured Haverhill did not find the net in 90 minutes.

We thank you for your continued support.
