The Hawks have been knocked out of the BBC Essex Senior Cup.

Essex Senior League side West Essex came to the Pardus Wealth Stadium on Tuesday evening and progressed to the next round of the BBC Essex Senior Cup, beating the Hawks 0-2 thanks to two goals from Ndao.

The game started perfectly for West Essex, who took the lead through Ndao after shocking defending from the Harlow side. The ball was played across the box past three defenders, with Ndao tapping it home past James Pellin, who could do nothing to prevent it.

Harlow did not let this set them back though, as Jack Zielinski hit the target from a cross, but Edwards saved it and soon after Syrus Gordon hit a shot from the edge of the box way over the crossbar, in an attempt to level the game.

West Essex continued to pounce, looking for a second goal, but with fairly lacklustre finishing, they were unable to find the net.

One of the biggest chances of the game went amiss for Harlow after Jack Haley crossed it into the box, and Denzel Effah headed the second ball over the bar, with a practically open goal. Effah continued to cause trouble, almost scoring with a fizzed cross that forced a save out of Edwards.

Both sides continued to trade blows in the first half, to little accuracy before the chances of a home comeback became very slim due to Jesse Ansen being sent off after a strong and momentous tackle on a West Essex player, reducing Harlow to 10 men.

After James Pellin became injured, striker Cav Clarke (who played in goal years ago) replaced him in goal, going on to pull off a big stop to prevent the second goal, but with Harlow having to sit back and defend, it was inevitable that a second goal would come for the away side.

It was Ndao once again who found the net for West Essex, looping it over Cav Clarke from distance, who had rushed off his line. The goal settled the 0-2 win and prevented any real chances of a comeback.

We thank you for your continued support, and hope to see you at our next game, a huge one at home to Hackney Wick.
